About the Chef:
Timmy Lee is of Chinese descent and born in Korea but moved to the Atlanta area when he was just a year old. Lee attended Buford schools, living most of his life in the Gwinnett County area.
Lee’s family has been in the restaurant business in the Greater Atlanta area since 1974 with the Golden Buddha restaurants in Decatur and Buckhead and Mo Mo Ya Japanese restaurants in Buckhead and Buford. Lee was formally trained at the Art Institute of Atlanta and was the head chef at Grapes and Hops Bar & Bistro in Flowery Branch before starting up Señor Buddha Global Grill in Lawrenceville. He’s always wanted to take his French classical training and apply it to other parts of the food world.
Favorite Culinary Memory:
During his second trip to Asia when he was 15, Lee got to tour Japan, Korea, and China and got to experience so many different good food spots from fine dining to street fod. Truly realized the world is a much bigger place with so many different foods to try.
What I’ll be Tasting at Good Taste GWINNETT:
Korean Style Beef Bulgogi on flat bread; Thai Chili Shrimp; and Spicy Fried Rice & Steam Rice Bowls with all the toppings.
Lee’s middle name is “Bruce” - Timmy “Bruce Lee”
On MY Bucket List:
As a dream job, he would like to host a TV show, like the television series Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern, where he can travel the world tasting different foods. Lee says “I’ll eat anything once...I’m an ambitious eater”. .
